Emmanouil Papas (1773 - 5/12/1821). Commander of Macedonian revolution in 1821. He was born in the village Dovista, named today Emmanouil Papas. Banker, businessman and friendly. He declared the revolution in Eastern Macedonia and Chalkidiki in 1821. The statue is located in the Eleutherias square. |

St Geïrgios Kryoneritis. Picturesque monastery, in the eastern of the city, on the street to St. John. The name ''Kryoneritis'' came from the the source of cold water that existed nearly the passed years. Established in 1298 and became glebe of abbey St. Prodromos in 1344, when the wife of Sakellarios Mourmouras, lord of Serres, donated it to the abbey. |
